KFC = Kentucky Fried Chicken
中国
KFC = 开封城
January 12 Dam Dropping - Absolutely Awesome!I finally did it - dropping down from a 30feet dam using a kayak as well as a surf-board look alike object. It was an absolutely awesome experience!
After putting up the wet suit, life-jacket and helmet, we walked a short distance to the man-made dam. Mt Taranaki was clearly in view today. How lucky! The first thing that we had to do is to take a plunge into the icy water. Brrrhhhh! Just when I thought that's the only way to get to the other side of the dam, I saw our guide taking a stroll on the edge of the dam.......
There were three kayaks. Ian, Avi and Steph went down first screaming and laughing while Sau Ping and I looked on. We have decided to do a double dip together. It was cold standing in the wind! When it was our turn to get into the kayak, I felt the tension and excitement building as the kayak perched precariously on the edge of the dam. It was almost a 90 degree dip. Slowly, inch-by-inch, we felt the kayak moving down, when the kayak was about 40% in the air, we felt a sudden loss of gravity and we plunged right down the 30feet, washed down by the water. Wow!! Fantastic!! It was a very exhilirating feeling. We lost our balance as we reached the bottom of the dam and the kayak overturned, tipping us into the water. But it was ok! We survived the first plunge and it was very fun! Nope, those important moments of my brief life did not flash through my mind....
The journey to drag the kayak up the hill was tiring. Puff puff. But the anticipation to do the drop again was enough to keep me going. We did a few more rounds before we decided to do one last plunge together (actually, being gently reminded by the guide that the time's running up!). We wanted to have a few photos as momentos. Hence, we had to get back to the car to grab our cameras. I wanted to walk on the dam's edge just like how the guide had done, but it was so slippery with green moss that I gave up the "Walk of the century" and swam back instead... Bravo to Ian who manage to manuerve the walk!
The finale of doing a 5-person kayak backward drop was simply fantastic ~~ DAMN good! And I had it on video too! We did the helmet-to-helmet knock as sign of camaraderie at the end of our adventure. Parfait!
Ian, Steph and Sau Ping continued their journey for the next adrenaline rush - sky jumping at Lake Taupo. Can't wait to hear their stories on Monday ^-^ While it was home sweet home for Avi and I. January 06 Weekend in Hasting & Napier驾着车上山的时候,第一眼看见那一排美丽的风车,心里是很感动的。
